Training for representatives of local institutions to promote the participation of young people in the social networks of local entities and reinforce european values

15-19 January 2024
The training event held from January 15-19, 2024, in Bucharest, Romania, brought together a
diverse group of participants, including representatives from local institutions and partner
organizations across Europe. The host partner, Creator from Romania, was joined by participants
from Innetica (Spain), L4Y Learning for Youth (Germany), and the University of Seville (Spain). A
total of 14 participants took part in the activity, including project coordinators, youth workers and
representatives of youth centers and organisations dedicated to empowering local institutions to
promote youth participation in social networks and strengthen European values. This collaborative
effort was aimed at sharing knowledge, developing effective strategies, and creating impactful
social media campaigns to engage young Europeans in civic activities and the promotion of
European values.
Day 1 – 15.01.2024
The first day of LLTA started with a warm welcome from the host partner, Creator, who provided
an overview of the scheduled activities and the program. Each partner introduced their respective
organizations and projects, followed by introductions from various local institution representatives.
The coordinator from L4Y presented the project’s goals, objectives, current status, and activities,
highlighting the empowerment of local institutions to promote youth participation in social
networks and reinforce European values. After the coffee break, the University of Seville
presented the «Guidebook for local authorities on how to encourage youth participation in social
networks,» discussing its methodology, background, and objectives. The day concluded with a
Q&A session and networking over lunch.
Day 2 – 16.01.2024
The second day began with a presentation by the University of Seville on «Understanding Youth
Social Media Behavior,» detailing the social media habits of young people and their motivations
for using these platforms. This was followed by a practical session where participants created
surveys and identified suitable social media platforms for their campaigns. The afternoon session,
led by Creator, explored European Values and the role of various actors in promoting youth
participation. Discussions included the involvement of celebrities in political campaigns and the
importance of education in instilling European values from a young age.
Day 3 – 17.01.2024
Day three featured a workshop on «Youth Engagement with European Values,» beginning with a
group poll on the effectiveness of social media in promoting these values. Participants discussed
challenges and opportunities in engaging young people through social media. In the subsequent
session, groups analyzed successful social media campaigns, such as the «New Narrative for
Europe» and the UN SDG Action Campaign, identifying key strategies and areas for improvement.
The day continued with developing campaign strategies and content themes, and concluded with
networking activities, including a cultural visit to Bucharest’s Old Center and a social dinner.
Day 4 – 18.01.2024
The fourth day opened with a presentation on «Youth and Civic Engagement for Local Activities»
by the University of Seville, emphasizing the role of digital platforms in modern civic engagement.
Participants learned about the shift from traditional political actions to digital engagement. The
day continued with a workshop session on content creation and planning a posting schedule for
their social media campaigns. The final workshop session focused on monitoring and evaluation,
teaching participants to track engagement metrics and gather audience feedback effectively. The
day ended with a presentation by Otilia Apostol on youth and social media engagement, a cultural
visit to the Palace of Parliament, and a social dinner.
Day 5 – 19.01.2024
On the final day, participant groups presented the outcomes of their workshops, showcasing their
social media campaigns designed to engage young people with European values. INNETICA
presented a guidebook on visual applications and practical use for local entities. The event
concluded with an evaluation session, the distribution of diplomas, and closing remarks. The day
also included a coordinators meeting to discuss the progress of the LTTA and future activities. The
event wrapped up with a «family picture» capturing the collective spirit of the participants.
